Unheralded Ulster duo Michael Hoey and Gareth Maybin have earned Ireland a place at next month's World Cup in China.
The pair carried the flag for Ireland after Paul McGinley, Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke and Graeme McDowell all declined to take part.
Hoey and Maybin were pipped to first place by Puerto Rico in the qualifying competition in Aruba in the Caribbean last night having led all the way after their sparkling nine under 62 in the first round.
But the main goal was to qualify for the World Cup, the final World Golf Series event of the year at the Mission Hills club in Shenzen on November 22-25.
A closing level par round of 71 in the foursomes last night was enough for them to finish in the runners-up spot and make sure of their place as one of the five qualifiers from 19 contenders.
