Panthers hit back to edge out Clan

Juraj Kolnik scored the shootout winner as Nottingham Panthers battled back from three goals down to return to the top of the Elite League table with a 4-3 victory over Braehead Clan.

Thomas Nesbitt, Matt Keith and Nathan McIver scored to give the Clan a 3-0 lead early in the second before, but the Panthers rallied and goals from David Ling, Matthew Myers and David Clarke took the game to overtime.

The additional five minutes could not separate the sides and, after Nottingham's Andy Bohmbach and Braehead's Nesbitt scored with the first attempt, Kolnik was the only other player to convert his penalty shot to move the Panthers one point clear of Cardiff Devils.

Robert Dowd, Ben O'Connor, Colton Fretter and Mathieu Roy were on target as Sheffield Steelers beat Fife flyers 4-1, while two goals from Leigh Salters saw Cardiff Devils beat Coventry Blaze 2-1.

Darryl Lloyd scored a pair of goals and Brandon Benedict and captain Adam Keefe also found the net to help Belfast Giants to a 4-1 win over Manchester Storm.
