Northern Ireland swimming star Bethany Firth retained her S14 100m backstroke title at the Paralympics in Rio with a new world record time.

Co Down woman Firth, 20, won gold in a new world best of 1:04.05.

Team GB&NI swimmer Firth immediately offered up a prayer of thankfulness after a performance in which she led from start to finish. "I'm so happy but it's not just me, it's all the people that have supported me - my coaches, my friends and family and my church."
