Stay with Woodhill

Ian Ferguson's Woodhill, who was a convincing winner of a maiden race at
Toomebridge a fortnight ago, could carry on the good work by winning at
Newry point-to-point tomorrow (first race 2pm).
Woodhill runs in the Winners-of-One race and should have the beating of this
field based on his performance last time out, when he was second three out
and was eased to lead and go clear at the last.
Derek O'Connor who is up there disputing the Ulster point-to-point
championship, rides Woodhill and this should give him another for his
personal scoreboard.
He may also be successful in the open race, in which he rides Bally Wall for
Ferguson, and Bally Wall is expected to follow up on a recent win at
Toomebridge.
O'Connor looks nearly a safe bet in this race, but David Christie, who has
farmed the open races and whose Arctic Copper was successful last week at
Maralin, will not be far away with either Farlands, Rocky On Tom or, the
biggest danger to the selection, Royal Ranger, who has a tremendously
consistent record this season.
The first race is a maiden for five-year-old geldings, followed by a mares'
maiden, a six-year-old maiden, the Open, a geldings' maiden and a
winners-of-one.
