Ash on top in Irish clean sweep

Invincible Ash came with a withering late run to collar fellow raider Sole Power as Irish horses swept the board in the valuable Meydan Sprint in Dubai.

Johnny Murtagh appeared to have done everything right on Eddie Lynam's Group One winner Sole Power, who landed the Nunthorpe at York in 2010, but Jamie Spencer came late to get Mick Halford's seven-year-old up on the line.

To complete a 1-2-3 for Ireland, David Marnane's Nocturnal Affair claimed third under Ryan Moore, while last year's Nunthorpe heroine Margot Did had every chance but faded after breaking well.

Invincible Ash finished a highly creditable fourth in a tight finish to the rich Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan on World Cup night last year and she could be heading back for another crack at the Group Two prize.

Spencer said: "She has come back to her best the last two runs and hopefully she will be invited for the Al Quoz Sprint, in which she was an unlucky fourth last year."
