Ban goes for Group One glory

Banimpire bids to secure her seventh victory of the season in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks on Thursday.

Jim Bolger's incredibly durable filly is joined on the trip across the Irish Sea by Aidan O'Brien's Wonder Of Wonders and Laughing Lashes from Jessica Harrington's yard.

Dual Classic winners Blue Bunting and Snow Fairy also feature among the nine declarations.

Godolphin's Blue Bunting won the 1000 Guineas for trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni at Newmarket in May and although beaten into fourth in the Oaks at Epsom, she returned to winning ways in the Irish equivalent.

The year-older Snow Fairy won both the English and Irish Oaks in 2010 and bids to go one better than 12 months ago in this Group One, having chased home Midday last time around.

With Midday lining up in Wednesday's Juddmonte International, her trainer Sir Henry Cecil relies on Vita Nova, a hugely unlucky loser of the Lancashire Oaks on her latest appearance.

Godolphin second string Rumh, Sir Michael Stoute's Crystal Capella and likely rank outsider Brushing complete the field.
