Bell hopeful of making Cut for the Dante

Michael Bell will consider the totesport.com Dante Stakes for new charge Coordinated Cut after first testing him out at Newmarket later this month.

The Montjeu colt made an impressive debut at Doncaster last September before disappointing in the Racing Post Trophy.

Owner Lawrie Inman then elected to switch him across Newmarket from Peter Chapple-Hyam's care to Bell, who said: “Coordinated Cut could well go to York. Hopefully, he will probably run beforehand in the mile-and-a-quarter Tattersalls race at Newmarket's Craven meeting.

“He has done a couple of bits of work so far and looks nice, but at the moment he is just a maiden winner and there is so much water to go under the bridge in the next month or so.”

There are 72 entries for the Dante, York's crucial Derby trial on May 13. These include Sir Michael Stoute's Workforce, a springer in the Classic markets but only seen once so far, when thrashing subsequent Tattersalls Million winner Oasis Dancer at Goodwood.

Stoute has a total of seven representatives in the £150,000 race, while Ballydoyle trainer Aidan O'Brien has no less than 19.
