Classy Carlito captures prize

Carlito Brigante had the odds-on Clerk's Choice well-beaten in fourth as he swept to victory in the Betfair iphone & Android App Hurdle at Haydock.

Gordon Elliott's raider (11-4) is 50-1 for the Champion Hurdle after taking over at the final flight under Jason Maguire and beating outsider Bocamix by two lengths, with Barizan a staying-on third.

"He's improved a lot from last year, but he's hard to get fit and Jason said he had a blow today," said the County Meath trainer.

"He ran on the Flat at Dundalk and he needed that. It was great it worked out today.

"We'll have to see what happens, but we could campaign him over here a bit for some decent ground. He could run at Leopardstown over Christmas as well or perhaps he might go to Kempton."

Maguire made it a double on the day as he steered 15-8 favourite Charminster to a six-length victory in the Timeform Betfair Racing Club Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race.
