Dermot Weld resists St Leger urge with Harzand
Dual Derby winner Harzand does not feature amongst the 42 entries for the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster on September 10.
The son of Sea The Stars provided trainer Dermot Weld with his first Investec Derby winner at Epsom at the start of June and followed up at the Curragh three weeks later.
Connections have previously stated that the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe would be his primary objective for the second half of the campaign, and he has not been given the option of lining up in the season's final Classic.
Despite Harzand's absence, there are plenty of strong contenders from Ireland.
Aidan O'Brien, who has saddled four previous St Leger winners, has a total of 16 entries, including Epsom Derby second and third, US Army Ranger and Idaho, and Queen's Vase and Curragh Cup winner Sword Fighter.
The John Gosden-trained pair of Wings Of Desire and Muntahaa, Sir Michael Stoute's King Edward VII Stakes winner Across The Stars and Red Verdon from Ed Dunlop's yard feature for the home team.
