Classic hope Free Eagle is likely to start next season off in the Derrinstown Derby Trial at Leopardstown.
The Dermot Weld-trained juvenile was all the rage for the Investec Derby when powering home by five and a half lengths on his debut at Leopardstown in August.
He was sent of at odds of 2-5 to follow up in a Group Three back at the Dublin track but was firmly put in place by Aidan O'Brien's Australia, going down by six lengths.
Weld said: "He scoped clean post-race but he just had an off-day for whatever reason. He's a lovely, long-striding horse to go a mile and a quarter or a mile and a half next year.
"He won't run again this season, we will probably start him off in the Derrinstown at Leopardstown."
Speaking at Gowran, Weld also had news of Irish St Leger heroine Voleuse De Couers, who will bid for more big-race glory at Longchamp next month.
He said: "She came out the Irish Leger in great form and we're aiming her at the French St Leger (Prix Royal-Oak) in a few weeks' time."
