Double Court can be trusted to run with honour in the Nassington Handicap Hurdle at Towcester.

Trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies must once again have high hopes for the five-year-old, who has rarely faltered on his last five starts.

Four of those admittedly ended in defeat, but he has shown a consistent streak over hurdles and deserves to win again.

Double Court, after all, caught the eye in a two-and-a-half-mile handicap hurdle at Perth in September, when he stayed on nicely to take second spot behind Crown Hill.

He has gone up in the weights again for his visit to Northamptonshire, but the step up to just shy of three miles is likely to tip the scales in his favour.

Consulting can thrive over a mile when he has his first start at Chelmsford.

Martyn Meade's colt has been a reliable yardstick on the all-weather, having won two races from four outings, but now looks the right time to step him up in trip.

Chief cause for optimism in that respect can be derived from a promising run at Kempton on November 1, when he finished fourth in a seven-furlong handicap. Consulting was hampered as the field navigated the first bend, which led to him having to travel wider than ideal.

Be the manner in which he finished off his race - he was only beaten a length and a quarter by Veeraya - tends to suggest he is well worth a bash over a furlong further.

The appointment of Jamie Spencer is certainly no bad thing in the At totepoolracing Win Tickets On Twitter Handicap.
