Red Cadeaux and Tom McLaughlin are clear in the Curragh Cup

Red Cadeaux and Tom McLaughlin are clear in the Curragh Cup

Red Cadeaux gave Ed Dunlop consolation for withdrawing Snow Fairy from the Pretty Polly Stakes because of the ground when easily winning the At The Races Curragh Cup.

Leading over a furlong out in the hands of Tom McLaughlin, Red Cadeaux (7-2) quickly put the race to bed to lift this Group Three prize by nine lengths from Zerashan.

Dunlop said: "Delighted. We thought he was very unlucky at Pontefract on Sunday when he got knocked over making a run. We knew he'd like the ground and that he'd stay well. He was very impressive."

He went on: "The owner is based in Hong Kong. We've discussed things like the Melbourne Cup, and we might consider the Irish Leger on this type of ground. He's adaptable, from a mile and a half to a mile and three-quarters to two miles. We'll bask in today's glory and think about it."

Ger Lyons' Future Generation (9-1) just got the better of a duel with Simla Sunset to take the Barrettstown Cannonball Run EBF Summer Fillies Handicap by a head under Keagan Latham.

Lyons said: "It was a hard ask against older horses last time. We learned a good bit from that though and this was always on the agenda if the handicapper gave us a chance. This was too big a pot to pass up.

"We intended to jump out and make all and they put it up to her and she fought back. She's in the Brownstown Stakes at Fairyhouse on Wednesday and if she's okay we'll take a pot at that."
