Elliott back in winning groove

Gordon Elliott may have been out of luck at Cheltenham but he was soon among the winners at Down Royal.

The County Meath trainer got off to a flying start at the Ulster venue when 5-4 favourite Time To Work took the opening Daily Mirror Maiden Hurdle in the hands of Emmet McNamara.

"Emmet gave him a great ride - it's hard for him coming off the Flat with no claim," said Elliott.

"He didn't mind the ground and will probably stay further. It's great for the Sloans at their local track."

Elliott doubled up when Dantes King (5-2) took the Sean Graham Bookmakers Beginners Chase under Andrew McNamara.
