Follow Code for success and crack it at Catterick

Sir Mark Prescott can improve his already healthy strike-rate at Catterick with Code Cracker in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Maiden Stakes tomorrow.

In recent years the Heath House handler has been operating at around 30% at the Richmondshire venue, and looks to have every chance of improving upon that record.

Regally bred, the Cheveley Park Stud-owned filly is by Group One winner Medicean and a first foal out of Prescott's 1000 Guineas runner-up and French Oaks winner Confidential Lady.

With breeding like that she could have been expected to start off at a much higher level than a Folkestone maiden, in which she only managed third.

However, after running green early on, Code Cracker ran on with plenty of promise to suggest she would be winning a similar race.

A couple of her rivals have shown reasonable form but the fact Seb Sanders is making the long trek to Catterick is a good sign.

A win will make her a very valuable breeding proposition.

Whenever Ann Duffield books Paul Hanagan it is worth noting, and Hel's Angel looks to have a favourite's chance in the racinguk.com Classified Claiming Stakes tomorrow.

A winner in a similar event over course and distance already this season, the five-year-old mare has at least been consistent, which is all you can ask for in these races.

With Bath unable to water, meaning the ground is rattling fast, there are not many runners at the meeting.

Obviously, an ability to handle quick conditions is a must, and Ed McMahon's Beauty Pageant fits the criteria.

The only time she has finished out of the first three in her six races to date came when she was fourth at Carlisle on good to soft.

She ran a good race at Doncaster last time out, when just touched off by Hypnosis, and there should be more to come from this lightly-raced four-year-old in the bet365.com/British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Handicap.

David Arbuthnot is not known for his handling of juveniles but Colourful Event holds strong claims in the bet365 Maiden Auction Fillies´ Stakes.

Just over four lengths behind Safari Storm at Sandown, that one subsequently ran well in a good nursery at Goodwood on Saturday.

The step up to six furlongs should see Michael Bell's Gabrial The King open his account in the UC Better Maiden Stakes at Ffos Las. Sent off favourite at Pontefract over five furlongs, he got going too late and claimed third but that experience will have brought him on a good deal.

Gerard Butler's Behlul was second to an odds-on favourite on his debut and looked like one who would be suited by further.

With that in mind, the one mile of the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Maiden Stakes at Southwell looks made to measure.
