Geraghty targets Punchestown return

Barry Geraghty hopes to be back in the saddle for the Punchestown Festival.

The leading rider suffered a hairline fracture of his left tibia in a nasty fall from Sailors Warn at Downpatrick on Sunday, ruling him out of the Aintree Grand National meeting.

He will also miss the Fairyhouse Easter Festival, featuring the Boylesports Irish Grand National, a race the jockey won last year on Shutthefrontdoor.

But with Punchestown not taking place until the end of April, Geraghty tweeted: "I'm going to miss some great racing over the next few weeks after fracturing my left tibia hopefully I can get back for @punchestownrace."
