JP McManus pair in the frame for Tipperary test

Published 28/09/2016

Aspen Colorado and Timiyan, both winners for owner JP McManus at the Listowel Festival earlier this month, feature among nine entries for the Joe Mac Novice Hurdle at Tipperary on Sunday.

The Joseph O'Brien-trained Aspen Colorado was having first run over jumps at Listowel, while Dermot Weld's Timiyan was returning to action after shaping reasonably well, though unplaced, on his hurdling debut at Fairyhouse in November.

No decision has yet been made about either's participation.

"We're not sure about those two yet," said McManus's racing manager Frank Berry.

"We'll play it by ear. We'll look at the possible runners and see what the ground is like."

Willie Mullins is likely to field a formidable challenge, with a trio of comparatively much more experienced performers in Airlie Beach, Bel Sas and Penhill in the frame for the Grade Three heat.

The other entries are Balzac Turgot, Bitview Colin and Wakea.
