King delays Walkon decision
Walkon will have a school over hurdles early on Thursday morning to see if he can join Alan King's team for the totesport Trophy at Newbury on Saturday.
The Barbury Castle handler's other runners are Salden Licht, The Betchworth Kid and Iolith and King has almost finalised jockey plans.
"I want to see if Walkon is in absolute top form - he worked fine on Wednesday morning. We'll school him first thing, let Choc (Robert Thornton) have a sit on him and see what he thinks," the trainer told At The Races.
"I'm happy enough with the horse, but I still think I could have done with another week. There's only one totesport Trophy, I want to run the horse, but I want to make sure he's in top form before we commit him.
"He's a horse that usually gives you the answers if he's very well. He loves to have a squeal and a kick. We haven't quite seen that yet."
King went on: "Richard Johnson is going to ride Iolith, Jim McCarthy rides The Betchworth Kid and we've got Wayne (Hutchinson) and Choc for whichever way we choose.
"If we decide to run all four then we will sit down and decide who goes where. If Walkon didn't run then Choc would switch to Salden Licht and I think Wayne would go to Warwick."
