Laughing set Leopardstown challenge

Laughing takes a hike in grade and trip in the Nijinsky Stakes at Leopardstown on Thursday night.

Winning the Listed event would be something to treasure for Laughing's trainer Charles O'Brien, whose father Vincent handled the legendary Nijinsky himself.

Laughing broke her duck over a mile at Navan last month but must stay an extra three furlongs this time. She must also get the better of Dermot Weld's Notable Graduate, Aidan O'Brien's Luxurious and John Oxx pair Haziyna and Manieree, among others.

"Obviously it's a step up in trip, but she handled a mile well and I think she might just be wanting a bit further," said O'Brien.

"It's a step up in class too, but it's always the way in Ireland that when you win a maiden, there's not much else to go for. Hopefully she'll acquit herself well."
