Mullins big guns set for Festival

Willie Mullins is set to unleash his star novice hurdlers at the Punchestown Festival, including Cheltenham Festival winner Douvan.

The five-year-old completed a one-two for the yard when landing the Supreme Novices' Hurdle from Shaneshill and remains unbeaten over obstacles.

Douvan could renew rivalry with Shaneshill in the Herald Champion Novice Hurdle while Nicholls Canyon is another possible runner for Mullins.

The trainer said: "Douvan is the top horse on ratings and won a Grade Two race well around the track previously in February. He is also engaged in the Tattersalls Ireland Champion Novice Hurdle over two and a half miles but the two-miler is more likely.

"Nichols Canyon, who won well at Aintree, is also a likely runner while Shaneshill is a possibility."

Having skipped Aintree last week, Arkle winner Un De Sceuax is also lined up to appear.

"The Ryanair Novice Chase looks the race for Un De Sceaux, even though he holds an entry in the BoyleSports Champion Chase. Jarry D'Honneur might go there too, if he doesn't go for a handicap," said Mullins.
