O'Brien lines up Mill Reef bid

Aidan O'Brien is lining up a tilt at the Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury on Saturday after declaring Crusade and Reply for the Group Two event.

Both have already run in Britain, Crusade having finished unplaced on his York debut before winning impressively at the Curragh, while Reply landed a huge pot when successful at Doncaster last week.

Alan McCabe's ultra-consistent juvenile Caspar Netscher is likely to prove a tough opponent in the Group Two contest, having won the Gimcrack Stakes at York last month over the same distance of six furlongs.

"After winning the Gimcrack at York last month we looked at our options and Saturday's Mill Reef Stakes was an obvious target," said the Nottinghamshire trainer.

"He is working very well at home and has come out of the York race fine. Barring any mishaps, we intend to run him at Newbury this Saturday."

A 14-strong entry includes Flying Childers Stakes runner-up Burwaaz, Mick Channon's pair of Gatepost and Factory Time, and the Richard Hannon-trained duo of Crown Dependency and Redact.
