Tyrone trainer Andy Oliver, who recorded success in the Ulster Oaks last weekend at Down Royal with Witty Rapartee, was again on the mark at Naas last night - but then tragedy struck.

The Caledon trainer landed the two-year-old maiden in impressive fashion with Aca Awesome and Chris Hayes in the saddle following his hat-trick at the Maze including the Oaks winner for the local trainer.

Oliver was recently married and the winner was owned by his wife Saffron.

But there was heartbreak at the end when the impressive filly broke a fetlock and was fatally injured.

Despite the very best efforts to save her she had to be put down.

Oliver said: "She was very good and I thought she could be a stakes filly.

"She wanted good ground and won well but it was just a freak accident.

"She broke her pastern - it always happens to the good ones sadly."
