On Fiddlers Green too hot for Blazers rivals

On Fiddlers Green ran out a decisive winner of the Guinness Galway Blazers Handicap Chase for Henry de Bromhead.

A good leap from Knockanarrigan three out took a couple of lengths out of the field, but On Fiddlers Green went in pursuit and Davy Russell didn't ask for maximum effort until after jumping the last.

He picked up Knockanarrigan halfway down the straight and stretched seven lengths clear, with 2014 winner Aranhill Chief pipping Knockanarrigan to the runner-up spot.

De Bromhead said: "It was a super ride by Davy, and it's great to get a winner here this week.

"He's only a six-year-old and I was planning on backing off him for a while and maybe looking at something like the Munster National.

"He's some horse to jump, and we might get back here in years to come. He seems to like it around here and he stays well."
