Punchestown given green light

Punchestown

This afternoon's meeting at Punchestown is going ahead as scheduled after the track passed an 8am inspection.

Irish Turf Club officials decided to check conditions due to an adverse overnight forecast, but the County Kildare track escaped the worst of the weather.

Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone said: "They had nine millimetres of rain overnight but they said they could have coped with double that, so they are fine to race. It is still raining but the course is perfectly raceable. The ground is heavy."
