Sanus Per Aquam facing Guineas fitness fight for Jim Bolger

Jim Bolger is facing a race against time to get Sanus Per Aquam fit enough for a crack at the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh on Saturday week.

Last season's Dewhurst Stakes third suffered a setback, leaving his trainer with less time to prepare him for the colts' Classic.

"Sanus Per Aquam had a setback earlier in the year and we are chasing a little to get him ready," said the Coolcullen handler.

"I only hope I can get him fit enough to do himself justice. Herald The Dawn is another possible runner but he has to get over Newmarket (where he finished eighth in the English Guineas)."

In contrast, Michael O'Callaghan reports Blue De Vega to be primed for action following his recent reappearance at the Curragh, where he was second to Awtaad.

"He came out of the Tetrarch Stakes at the Curragh very well and will improve quite a bit. All of mine are taking a run this season," said the Curragh trainer.

"We had a wet winter but we didn't rush things and didn't panic. He is a very talented horse and he thinks he owns the place. He'd like a sound surface."
