Sizing John to test stamina in Irish Gold Cup

Sizing John is to step up to three miles for the first time in the Stan James Irish Gold Cup on February 12.

After chasing home two-mile king Douvan on no less than seven occasions, the Jessica Harrington-trained seven-year-old rose in trip to two and a half miles and landed the Kinloch Brae Chase at Thurles last week.

"He's in great nick and it looks like he's going for the Irish Gold Cup," said Harrington.

"We'll step him up to three miles and just see.

"If he wins it will cause us a headache, but it will be a lovely headache to have."
