Connections of Arkle Chase winner Sizing Europe are looking forward to having another go at Kauto Star in the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.
The eight-year-old was beaten four lengths into second place by Kauto Star in the JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal last month.
"He seems in good form and the King George is what we are aiming for. We knew he was going to improve a lot for his first run and I thought his run at Down Royal was very good," trainer Henry de Bromhead told At The Races.
"I think he'll still improve for that. After jumping the last he put his head down and galloped the whole way to the line.
"We're hoping the course at Kempton will suit him and it's usually goodish ground, which will be of benefit, and I'm sure that's the same for Kauto Star as well.
"There were a few things we thought we could improve on and we're working on those. And in general I'm hoping he'll improve a bit. He's only just getting used to jumping at a slower speed over three miles.
"His jumping should improve again as he becomes more used to running at that pace as opposed to in the Arkle last year when he was flat out and taking his fences in his stride.
"This year he has more time to think about them and he was still a little bit deliberate over them. He second performance this season was better than his first and he's been really good since."
