Somehow shows quality to claim Victor McCalmont spoils
Somehow proved too strong for her rivals in the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes at Gowran Park.
With a run under her belt after filling the runner-up berth in the Park Express Stakes on the opening day of the season, Aidan O'Brien's Group Three winner found the extra quarter-mile in her favour and travelled well within herself towards the back.
She cut through the pack with the minimum of fuss until she looked like running out of room over a furlong out.
A gap opened, though, and the 6-4 favourite didn't need a second invitation to sprint through it and come home a length and a quarter clear of Sea Swift, with Laganore third.
Winning jockey Seamie Heffernan said: "She was placed in a Classic (fourth in the Epsom Oaks) so it's no surprise that she has won.
"Donnacha (O'Brien) rode her the last day when she was second at Naas and she just took a blow at the wrong time, and she just got done on the line.
"That will bring her on again."
