Spatial can help Stoute rack up a Chelmsford double

By Anita Chambers

Spatial can spearhead a Chelmsford double for Sir Michael Stoute by winning the totetrifecta At totesport.com Fillies' Handicap on her seasonal bow at the all-weather venue today.

The three-year-old is taking quite a dip in company having last been seen when running in a Group One, but this one-mile event is an opportunity for a nice confidence boost.

Spatial looked a very useful tool indeed when chasing home subsequent Group One winner Wuheida at Newmarket last August and her victory over Unforgetable Filly the next time out reads well with the runner-up having placed in Group company and third Sobetsu on course for the French Oaks.

She was certainly not unconsidered for the Fillies' Mile on her final start of 2016, being sent off a 6-1 shot but proving no match for Rhododendron after trying to make all, finishing a distant sixth.

At one point last term, it did look as though Spatial might develop into a Classic contender and while this is a relatively low-key return, it would not be a surprise if she does make her mark at a higher level later in the season.

City Of Joy can also deliver for the Freemason Lodge team in the totequadpot At totesport.com Handicap.

He was another to be tried at Pattern level at the end of the last campaign, falling well short when failing to beat a horse home in the Horris Hill at Newbury. However, a gelding operation over the winter and a return in handicap company saw City Of Joy back in the winner's enclosure at Doncaster in early May.

While he made slightly hard work of winning, the son of Elusive City just edged out Mustarrid on the line, showing a likeable attitude and a likelihood of a longer trip suiting.

He sticks at a mile this time, though, and while a 5lb rise for a head success is a bit steep, City Of Joy looked as though he would take a big step forward for the run.

Stepper Point has few secrets from the handicapper nowadays but can be relied upon to put up an honest show in the toteexacta At totesport.com Handicap.

A multiple Group race winner and rated 114 in his pomp, the eight-year-old has slid down the reckoning in recent seasons and is now lining up off marks in the high 80s. However, a perch of 86 saw him get his head in front at Windsor in April and while he has been out of luck in two subsequent outings off a 3lb higher mark, things could just fall right for him on the all-weather.

La Vie En Rose can bring up a hat-trick in the Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap at Wolverhampton.

Mark Johnston's filly has really found her forte now she has been stepped up to 12 furlongs and after winning by two and a quarter lengths at Catterick last week, it is perhaps telling she turns out again quickly under a penalty.

Prying Pandora is another to have found the winning groove of late and she can register back-to-back Newcastle victories in the KPMG Cutting Through Complexity Handicap.
