Turner paints a winning picture at Ascot
Hayley Turner stole the headlines with a high-profile win at Ascot over the weekend and she can be amongst the winners again at Southwell tomorrow.
Turner teamed up with trainer Michael Bell to triumph with Furnace in Berkshire and the duo can repeat the trick with Mezzanisi in the totesuper7 Handicap.
The three-year-old may only have one win to his name but he is a pretty consistent performer who has shown an aptitude for differing surfaces, including the all-weather.
Mezzanisi struck at Lingfield earlier in the year and has been placed on each of his four subsequent starts, most recently when third over 10 furlongs at Ripon.
He stayed on well that day and looked as though the return to a mile and a half tomorrow will aid his chances as he is reunited with a jockey with whom he seems to get on particularly well.
Lord Of The Reins totally missed the break at Doncaster last time but he can gain compensation in the toteexacta Handicap.
Although he has shot up the ratings, James Given’s runner was successful at Newmarket on his penultimate outing.
It is probably best to put a line through his Town Moor disappointment but he should be better here.
Maidens at this time of year are always intriguing events and the well-related Royal Diamond who is a half-brother to Classic-placed Mad About You, takes the eye at Warwick.
