Zoffany swoops for Phoenix prize

Published 08/08/2010

Zoffany put up a superb performance to improve Aidan O'Brien's already amazing record in the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh.

The youngster looked to have it to do entering the final furlong in the Group One contest as he arrived on the heels of the leading pair Strong Suit and Glor Na Mara with little room for manoeuvre.

But a split appeared at just the right time and Johnny Murtagh popped him through the gap to grab the prize in the last few strides.
