Aussies are on their way to Ravenhill
Friday, 4 July 2008
Ulster today confirmed they will play Australian Super 14 side Queensland Reds at Ravenhill next month.
New signings Clinton Schifskofske and Ed O'Donoghue will have the immediate chance to play against their former team-mates when the Reds visit Ravenhill on Friday, August 22 (kick-off 7.30pm) as part of their tour of Ireland.
Ulster are already due to play English Premiership sides Bath (August 15) and Worcester (August 27), so the confirmation of the Queensland fixture will not only give Matt Williams' new-look squad quality opposition for their pre-season campaign but also an early treat for supporters.
The last time Ulster hosted southern hemisphere opposition was South Africa's Blue Bulls in February 2005 and the coach of the Reds is Phil Mooney, who coached the Australia Under-19s side during the IRB World Championship in Belfast last season.
