Bath sign Garvey

Bath have announced the signing of Matt Garvey from their Aviva Premiership rivals London Irish.

The 25-year-old England Saxons forward has played for Irish in the second-row and the back-row.

"Matt is an excellent player and one we are extremely happy to have secured," Bath head coach Gary Gold told the club's official website. "He is a big unit and can do the rough stuff, but he can also offer a real threat in attack."

Garvey added: "I know that the environment there (Bath) is a tough one.

"I look forward to joining the squad, and to testing myself among the players there and fighting for a place in the team."

Garvey becomes Bath's second signing for next season from Irish, following centre Jonathan Joseph.
