Blair earns Edinburgh chance

Alex Blair has been offered the chance to earn a return to Edinburgh after bouncing back from injury.

The 22-year-old was released by Edinburgh in December 2011 after suffering a back injury earlier in the year.

But the stand-off, who is the brother of former Edinburgh and Scotland captain Mike Blair, recovered to make an impact with Edinburgh Accies last season before playing for Southern Districts in Australia's Shute Shield competition this summer.

And his performances for Accies in this season's RBS Premiership prompted an invite from the capital's professional team to combine his sport science studies at Edinburgh College with the chance to train on a part-time trial basis.

Blair made only one appearance for Edinburgh before his back injury but was capped by Scotland A.
