Edinburgh head coach Michael Bradley insists he has been focusing on inspiring a winning performance from his players rather than stopping former club Connacht on his return to the Sportsground.

Bradley spent seven years as director of rugby at the Galway club, guiding them to three Amlin Challenge Cup semi-finals but he will forget his past ties when the RaboDirect PRO12 match kicks off as Edinburgh look to repeat their 19-14 win over the Irish side at Murrayfield on the opening weekend of the season.

Bradley said: "On a personal level I've a lot of fond memories from my time at Connacht and am looking forward to going back but, from a performance perspective, I know exactly how tough it is for teams to take any points away from the Sportsground."

He added: "I know the set-up and the side very well and have naturally tried to use that to our advantage as we've prepared for this match however our emphasis has, as ever, been on how we need to play to win, rather than on any sort of inside knowledge.

"When the game kicks off it will be business as usual, with our focus fully on coming away with the win."

Bradley has made four changes following the defeat by Dragons with Chris Paterson, Jim Thompson, Gregor Hunter and Andrew Kelly coming in.

Sep Visser and the injured John Houston are absent while Phil Godman and Alun Walker drop to the bench.

Gary Neville could be key to Wayne Rooney's form at Euros

You might have thought that ruling yourself out of the first two games of football's second most important international tournament with a shocking flash of irresponsibility was quite enough to focus the mind of the nation's most gifted player.
