Briggs banned

The Rugby Football Union has handed down a doping ban.

Henley player Richard Briggs has received a two-year Rugby Football Union ban for an anti-doping violation.

Briggs tested positive for 19-norandrosterone (a metabolite of Nandrolone) and Oxandrolone - both anabolic androgenic steroids - in July this year, the RFU has announced.

He has been suspended by a disciplinary panel from August 10, 2013 until August 9, 2015.

The RFU said Briggs admitted the offence and agreed to the case being heard on papers without attending in person.
