Brumbies rout Reds

The Brumbies completed a season double over the Reds in comprehensive fashion with a 29-0 bonus-point success in Brisbane.

Prop Ben Alexander scored two tries with hooker Stephen Moore, number eight Ita Vaea and fly-half Christian Lealiifano also touching down. Lealiifano added two conversions.

The result maintained the Brumbies' impressive start to the Super Rugby campaign and followed up a 47-3 victory over the Reds in Canberra.

Moore made the first breakthrough, bulldozing his way over after good work in the build-up by Matt Toomua and Lealiifano before Alexander's first touchdown of the night made it 10-0 at the break, with Lealiifano off-target with both of his first-half conversion attempts.

Nick Frisby was off-target with penalty efforts for the Reds either side of the interval before Alexander added his second and the Brumbies' third try as he crossed the line after a ruck, with Lealiifano making it third-time lucky with the conversion.

Vaea added the bonus-point score as he burst through the Reds defensive line to make it 22-0. Despite the huge deficit the hosts never gave up and despite concerted pressure in the final quarter of the match they were unable to break their duck.

Lealiifano struck the final blow, racing clear after the Reds let the ball go to ground and adding the extras to seal the hosts' misery.
