Carter kicks Crusaders into semis

Dan Carter kicked 23 points to help put Crusaders in the Super 15 semi-finals

Dan Carter kicked 23 points as the Crusaders booked their place in the Super 15 semi-finals with a comfortable 28-13 victory over an error-strewn Bulls side at AMI Stadium in Christchurch.

Fly-half Carter kicked six penalties, a drop-goal and converted Zac Guildford's try, which he created, as Todd Blackadder's side dominated every facet of the game.

Morne Steyn kicked a penalty for the visitors while Dewald Potgieter and Wynand Olivier crossed for second-half tries, but it was too little, too late.

The Reds' reign as Super Rugby champions is over after the Sharks secured a 30-17 success to set up an all-South African semi-final against the Stormers.

The Sharks' win was rarely in doubt after they took a 17-0 lead thanks to tries from JP Pietersen and Paul Jordaan. Charl McLeod added a third after the break while Frederic Michalak kicked 15 points.

The Reds crossed through Will Genia and a consolation at the death from Radike Samo. Genia and Mike Harris kicked a conversion apiece, with the centre also kicking a penalty.
