Crusaders too strong for Chiefs

The Crusaders produced an impressive display to inflict a 43-15 defeat on the Chiefs in Christchurch.

Three tries in the space of six minutes saw the hosts cruise to victory over the defending champions.

Captain Kieran Read crossed the whitewash a minute before half-time then doubled his tally after the break. That followed a superb solo effort by Israel Dagg.

It was not long before centre Ryan Crotty secured a four-try bonus point and allowed coach Todd Blackadder to give the majority of his replacements over 20 minutes to stretch their legs.

Tyler Bleyendaal also crossed, while Dan Carter contributed 18 points.

Asaeli Tikoirotuma and Charlie Ngatai were the try-scorers for the visitors.
