Dan Pryor's fine try helped reigning Super Rugby champions the Highlanders claim a 25-15 victory over the Chiefs at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Pryor's score to cap a superb team move was one of three tries for the hosts, with All Blacks Waisake Naholo and Lima Sopoaga also crossing as the Highlanders finished runners-up in the New Zealand Conference behind the Hurricanes.

The third-placed Chiefs, who like their opponents are through to the play-offs, collected tries from Toni Pulu and Lachlan Boshier but could not get the win that would have guaranteed them top spot.
