Davies out for a fortnight

Wales lock Bradley Davies has received a two-week ban after being cited for foul play during a RaboDirect PRO12 game.

The Cardiff Blues forward appeared before an independent RaboDirect PRO12 disciplinary committee in Scotland on Wednesday.

He was initially reported for charging into a ruck or maul, which includes any contact made without the use of arms or without grasping a player, when the Blues faced Connacht five days ago.

But the committee amended Davies' offence to an infringement of Law 10.4, punching or striking with the fist or arm, including the elbow, shoulder, head or knee.

The committee ruled Davies' act of foul play warranted a low-end entry point. He is free to play again on September 28.
