Davies out of Wales squad
Wales have suffered another injury blow ahead of their autumn Test series opener against Australia next Saturday.
Scarlets centre Jonathan Davies has withdrawn from the squad after sustaining ankle ligament damage during a Wales training session last week.
He joins full-back Lee Byrne, wing Leigh Halfpenny and back-row forward Ryan Jones on the sidelines, although it is hoped Ospreys pair Byrne and Jones will be fit at some stage of the autumn series.
After the Australia clash, Wales face Millennium Stadium appointments with South Africa, Fiji and New Zealand this month.
Davies was expected to be named in Wales coach Warren Gatland's starting line-up for the Wallabies game, but it now looks likely that Tom Shanklin and Andrew Bishop will team up in midfield, with James Hook switched to full-back instead of Byrne.
Uncapped Newport Gwent Dragons flanker Toby Faletau, meanwhile, has been called into the Wales squad as replacement for Rob McCusker, who faces a hernia operation.
Faletau, 19, is the son of former Tonga international Kuli Faletau, and played for Wales Under-20s in the Six Nations last season.
Three other players have also linked up with the Wales squad for training, but have yet to receive full call-ups.
They are Wasps number eight Andy Powell, Cardiff Blues centre Dafydd Hewitt and Scarlets midfield prospect Scott Williams.
