Davies to make Scarlets return

Wales centre Jonathan Davies will make his return from injury when the Scarlets tackle LV= Cup opponents London Irish on Saturday.

It means the British and Irish Lions star could be in the running for Wales' eagerly-awaited RBS 6 Nations appointment with Ireland in Dublin next weekend.

Davies suffered a torn pectoral muscle during Wales' opening autumn series defeat against South Africa three months ago.

It had been thought he would not be fit until late February, but he has recovered ahead of schedule.

"It is an opportunity for Jon to get game-time after such a long lay-off," Scarlets head coach Simon Easterby said.

"It's good news he has had such a speedy recovery, and he has done really well to get back in the time-frame he has.

"He is ready and will play his part for us on the weekend."

Davies starts in the Scarlets midfield alongside Gareth Owen, while Wales launch their Six Nations campaign against Italy on Saturday with a centre partnership of Scott Williams and Jamie Roberts.
