Davies to miss South Africa tour

Lock Bradley Davies has become the latest player to be ruled out of Wales' South Africa tour next month.

The Cardiff Blues forward, who will join Wasps this summer, had surgery on Wednesday, the Welsh Rugby Union announced.

"Bradley Davies underwent surgery yesterday for a damaged hamstring, ruling him out of contention of Wales' tour of South Africa," the WRU said in a statement.

Wales head coach Warren Gatland is already without players like Sam Warburton, Leigh Halfpenny, Justin Tipuric and Scott Williams because of injuries.

Gatland will announce a 31-man tour party after Friday night's senior Wales trial match in Swansea, with the squad set to be captained by Ospreys lock Alun-Wyn Jones.

Wales face the Springboks in Durban on June 14, and then Nelspruit seven days later.
