Edinburgh have added Dave Denton to their squad for Friday's Magners League clash with Ulster at Ravenhill.

The forward will be given the chance to stake a claim during training this week after impressing for the Scotland under-20 side in recent months.

"Dave has looked really sharp ever since he joined us in the summer, and he'll be pushing the other back row guys hard all year," said head coach Rob Moffat.

"It's great to see the younger lads not being overawed by the professional environment and bringing something fresh to the mix."

Skipper Roddy Grant returns after missing Friday`s defeat by Munster through injury, while winger Lee Jones and second row forward Craig Hamilton are also named in the 25-man squad, with Moffat due to name his team later in the week.

Ross Rennie drops out as Edinburgh gradually phase him back following 18 months of knee problems while Argentina lock Esteban Lozada will miss the game after suffering a head knock against Munster.

Moffat is looking for his team to improve after defeats against Cardiff and Munster in their opening matches.

"So far in the Magners League, we've only shown a fraction of what we know we can produce," he said.

"Parts of our game, in isolation, have been very good, but it's now about making sure we bring them all out at the same time."
