Double blow for Reds

The Queensland Reds will be without Australia duo James Horwill and Will Genia through injury for Saturday's Super 15 clash against the Waratahs.

Horwill (calf) and Genia (knee) returned to Queensland having picked up knocks while representing the Wallabies against the British and Irish Lions, and will not be risked this weekend. However, both players are expected to be fit for the first week of the Super Rugby finals later this month.

"I feel good. Obviously it'd be better not to have a calf injury, but I was hoping to play this week," Horwill said.

"Playing against NSW for Queensland - it's a big deal.

"It's disappointing, but the plan is to be right next week to take on whoever we face in the finals."

The Reds lie fifth in the standings and are guaranteed to feature in the post-season, but can still finish as high as fourth and host a match in the opening week of the finals.
