Down High look forward to Shield final clash with in-form Ballyclare

Will it be third time lucky when Down High face Ballyclare High in the Danske Bank Subsidiary Shield final at Queen's this afternoon 2.30 pm?

They unsuccessfully competed in the last two finals losing to Ballymena Academy 20-10 and then to Wallace High 21-5 but will be starting this final with confidence after victories over Dalriada 41-14 and away to Omagh Academy 10-0.

Their most outstanding effort was against Methodist College when they led at the interval in the Schools' Cup, but following a long delay due to an injury failed to adapt as well as their opponents on the restart losing 15-8.

Ballyclare High coach Mike Orchin-McKeever said: "They are two evenly matched teams and fortunately we have no injury problems after hard fought ties against Sullivan 22-20 and Grosvenor Grammar 24-7.

"Earlier on we used more than 35 players on the firsts giving each of them great experience."
