Edinburgh are sweating on the fitness of Chris Paterson and Netani Talei before head coach Rob Moffat confirms his team for Monday's Magners League derby clash with Glasgow.
Moffat has named a 28-man squad, with five players set to miss out in the final selection for Monday's game with the Warriors at Firhill.
Utility back Paterson has a shoulder problem and number eight Talei a foot complaint, but Scotland lock Scott MacLeod has been included in the squad after suffering a rib injury against South Africa last month.
Edinburgh have won five of their last seven Magners League games and defeated Castres in the Heineken Cup last Monday in a behind closed doors game at Murrayfield.
The capital side twice lost to Glasgow last season and Moffat is eager for victory in the first of a double header, with the return at Murrayfield on January 2.
He said: "I felt we didn't do ourselves justice in either game last year, and that's one of the worst feelings you can be left with coming away from a match. Nobody in our camp wants to go through that again, and we need to show we've learned from the experience.
"Derby games are that bit special, because of the hype and whole atmosphere that surround them, but at the end of the day it takes the same things to win them as any other match.
"You've got to really front up, play with control and conviction and not give away soft penalties.
"Those are the things we'll be asking for from the players and I'm positive we'll get the right response."
