Edinburgh Rugby have announced that stand-off Jason Tovey is expected to be sidelined for around eight weeks with a wrist injury.

Tovey joined Edinburgh in March from fellow Guinness PRO12 side Newport Gwent Dragons, initially on loan until the end of the season, before signing a two-year contract.

A statement on the club's official website read: "The Welsh playmaker sustained the injury in training last week, with a scan at Spire Murrayfield Hospital revealing a small fracture.

"However, at this stage it is thought that surgery will not be required.

"Tovey will remain in the care of the club's medical team for ongoing rehabilitation and assessment."
