Edinburgh have signed Dragons stand-off Jason Tovey on loan until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old has made more than 160 appearances since signing for the Newport-based side in 2008, although he spent one season with Cardiff during that spell.

Dragons director of rugby Lyn Jones said: "It's so important for players to experience rugby outside of their comfort zone during their career.

"Jason has served his region very well over the years, but will need more game time at this stage of his career.

"We feel that our future at fly-half lies with Dorian Jones, Angus O'Brien and Arwel Robson and all will be contesting for game time between now and the end of the season."
