England delay Tindall verdict

England have delayed any official announcement on Mike Tindall's availability for Saturday's Grand Slam decider against Ireland until Tuesday.

Tindall, who has captained England to the brink of the RBS 6 Nations title, injured his ankle in Sunday's 22-16 victory over Scotland and was replaced at half-time.

The Gloucester centre lifted the Calcutta Cup but then left Twickenham in a protective boot to undergo X-rays. He will be further assessed by England medics when the squad reconvene at Pennyhill Park.

If Tindall is ruled out of the Dublin clash, Nick Easter would be the leading candidate to captain England.
